Senior Musicians
who would like to perform in the Graduation Pre-Show should pick up an application in the main office, then sign up for a time on the
Band/Orchestra Room door.
Auditions will be held Monday, May 21st from 2:15 to 4:00. ONLY seniors
will be allowed to perform at the Graduation Pre-Show.
In order to attend Rogue Community College, students must take the COMPASS placement test. RCC staff will offer the test
at AHS on Thursday, May 17th from 8:45 – 11:45 am in H-29. Before taking the COMPASS test, students need to apply for admission
to RCC. This is free, takes five minutes, and can be done atwww.roguecc.edu/HSOutreach/. Students must sign up in advance for the COMPASS test. For more information on how to register for RCC or to reserve a spot for the
COMPASS test, contact Jennifer Marsden in the counseling office at 482-8771 x130 (office hrs: 8:45 am – 3:15 pm) .
For students planning to attend a community college other than RCC
, be sure to check if the school uses the COMPASS test for placement. Portland CC, Southwestern Oregon CC, and Chemeketa CC, also use the COMPASS test, as
well as many out-of-state community colleges. Students planning to attend a CC that uses the COMPASS, can take test at AHS, and RCC will forward your
scores to the school of your choice.
Intramural Ultimate Frisbee tournament will continue on the AHS track field during lunch. Seven person team sign-ups are in the counseling center.
Girls’ basketball
has open gym from 6:30 to 8:00 every Wednesday until school is out. Come down and enjoy a fun time playing some hoops!
It may be feeling like summer out, but your outfits still must be school appropriate
. Please remember that excessive bareness is prohibited including short shorts, short skirts and skimpy tops. No underwear can be showing. And as always,
clothing displaying drug, alcohol, tobacco, gang symbols, obscenities or sexual innuendo is not permitted on campus. Let’s keep our focus on learning while

Host Families needed.
The Ashland Rotary Club is seeking 3 families to host a 16 year old boy from Japan who will be attending Ashland High School next year. A great way to
learn about another culture. Rotary exchange students must pass a rigorous process to be selected, so are sure to be mature, adaptable and fun. In addition
there will be vast support from the Ashland Rotary club to ensure a successful exchange for you and the student. Each family will host for approximately 3
months starting approx. Late August-Nov; Dec - March; March/April-June. If interested call Marge Bernard 541-840-8386.

RCC is offering a Summer Technical Exploration Camp for high school students. Each experience is a full-strength, college level experience about hands-on
skills that are fun and useful, no matter what your ultimate education and career goals. Applications are due by 6/8/12. Contact information available in

The Siskiyou Mt Club (SMC)
is a 501(c) (3) public charity dedicated to conserving trail systems in the Siskiyou backcountry.Juniors and seniors can sign up for work trips in the Kalmiopsis and Soda Mountain Wilderness Areas. Students can log many community service hours while exploring and working in southwest Oregon's remote mountains and wild rivers.
Participants provide basic gear and a good attitude. SMC provides food, tools, transportation logistics and an adventure of a lifetime. Those interested

JOB COUNCIL SUMMER PROGRAM
Are you 16 to 21 years of age; Are you currently a Junior or Senior in High School; Are you close to completing your GED? Do you need to earn some spending
money for the summer?
Do you dig the outdoors and interested in gaining some work experience?
The Job Council’s Outdoor Summer Program is accepting applications for a field-based outdoor Job skills training program in both Jackson
and Josephine Counties. This is a 7 week program that pays minimum wage; Hours will be Tuesday through Friday from 8am to
3pm. If you are selected crew begins starting July 1st and ends August 17th. Projects include, but are not limited
to: invasive species removal, trail building and maintenance, tree and shrub planting, and campground maintenance.
There will be a full day challenge on Saturday, June 1, 2012 to see if you have what it takes, there are limited positions to be filled so don’t wait
and come on in and get your application
.
In order to be eligible for the Summer Program, applicants must meet income guidelines, and be enrolled in school.
Applications (including eligibility requirement) may be picked up from your local Job Council located at 1569 NE F Street in Grants Pass or at 673
Market Street in Medford

Science Works Internship Program
ScienceWorks is offering a limited number of summer internships for student, ages 13 and up, who are interested in science, developing new skills, having
fun and giving back to the community. The internship program is 50 hours long. Camps are held between June 8 and August 31, 2012. Each intern will be
assigned to help with one 20-hour camp that fits the needs and schedule of the intern and museum. For more information contact the main office.
COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
The Ashland Rotary Club Garden is looking for student volunteers for their vegetable garden. They meet every Saturday at 10 am at the Ned and Stella Schaaf
farm at 175 Neill Creek Road. It's great fun and they have delicious treats for you.
Directions: Head toward Emigrant Lake and turn right on Neill Creek (Project A on corner). Take the first driveway on the right, head up the hill and take
the center of three roads back to the farm. Hope to see you there!

trail system across the Siskiyou upland ridges linking the existing trail systems of Ashland and Jacksonville. Students can earn community service hours by

Leadership and Contest Opportunities
Are you interested in a career in Medicine? The National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine is designed for the most highly-motivated high
school students who have shown academic excellence and leadership potential. Students will attend an intensive 10-day program in one of 10 cities in
the US during the summer of 2012. Counselors can give you more information regarding the program and its’ cost.
Camp M.D.
is a summer residential experience at Southern Oregon University, allowing 20 students in grades 9-12 the opportunity to explore health and science
careers. Participants will interact with current healthcare professionals to explore a variety of career options and work environments. Students will have
the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities in order to gain a better understanding of the daily responsibilities of these professionals. This
